How to know how much ram your system can support

For a lot of people,
when they feel their computer start slowing.
then the 1st thing they think of is to upgrade ram.
here is the problem,
go and check your system if you not sure whether how much ram can your system support
Go to 'Control Panel' then 'System'

check the system type,
see whether is 32-bit or 64-bit
for newer computer usually using 64-bit window 7 already.
ok if your system is 32-bit,
then the maximum ram can support is 3.3gb.
even if you add up to 8gb, only 3.3gb is fully utilized.
while for 64-bit there are no limit for that.

  1. Actually there is still a limit for 64bit windows 7 (thanks to the blood-sucking microsoft)

    Here are the upper RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7:

    * Starter: 8GB
    * Home Basic: 8GB
    * Home Premium: 16GB
    * Professional: 192GB
    * Enterprise: 192GB
    * Ultimate: 192GB
